Selection Efforts to begin the process of selecting a 4.9 GHz band manager are expected to start in January, after the members of a selection committee are chosen by the end of this year, according to a public notice from the FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (PSHSB) and Wireless Telecommunications Bureau.
Issued yesterday, the public notice outlines key criteria that applicants must meet to be on the selection committee, as well as the targeted timeline for selection of a Band Manager for the 4.9 GHz spectrum. The public notice was released slightly more than two months after a federal appeals court issued a ruling that appeared to clear the way for the FCC to implement its 4.9 GHz order that was approved in 2024.committee to be finalized by end of the year, with initial meeting expected to be conducted in January 2027, according to FCC public notice.
