Honoring first responders: the heroes among us

By Edward Parkinson, FirstNet Authority Chief Executive Officer

Year-round, first responders brave challenges so the rest of us may stay safe. In honor of their hard work and dedication, every spring we honor and celebrate these heroes for selflessly protecting and serving our communities.

A few weeks ago, we recognized our nation’s emergency telecommunicators during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week with Board Member Karima Holmes and Senior 9-1-1/Emergency Communications Advisor John Hunt paying tribute to our public safety colleagues. Emergency telecommunicators are essential to saving lives and keeping us safe, as they collect, analyze, and share vast amounts of data and information quickly and efficiently, helping responders make critical decisions.

Throughout the month of May, we are honoring the courage, commitment, and sacrifices of those in the fire service, law enforcement, and emergency medical services (EMS) communities, as well as our nation’s public servants. Join us in celebrating the heroes among us during these annual events. READ MORE
