FirstNet Association changes its name

On April 15th the FirstNet Association announced its name has been changed to, the “Public Safety Broadband Technology Association (PSBTA)”.

PRESS RELEASE

In an effort to avoid confusion between the Association and the First Responders Network Authority (FirstNet), the PSBTA is moving forward with the new name, but the same FirstNet dedicated mission. Our work is anchored in supporting all aspects of the FirstNet ecosystem; yet our primary goal is to be the link between FirstNet, network developers, innovators and most importantly, the end-user/first responder.

During its first 9 months of operation, the Association has grown to over 500 members and has provided 9 regional forums to the public safety community across the country. Our forums bring all of the stakeholders into the room, including FirstNet, FirstNet built with AT&T, vendors critical to ecosystem development and primary and extended primary users. The PSBTA will continue to provide FirstNet Education Forums going forward, as we grow our membership in support of FirstNet Primary and Extended Primary users.

Association President Al Gillespie stated, “the new name of Public Safety Broadband Technology Association clearly defines our direction and mission, which is to support the growth of the FirstNet ecosystem.”
