AT&T has partnered with the government of Talbot County in Maryland to launch a FirstNet cell site on Tilghman Island. The company said Tuesday it has also constructed an additional AT&T cell site at Bozman, Md., to provide expanded network coverage for residents, visitors and first responders.

“These new cell sites are an important step forward in public safety communications in Talbot County and the state of Maryland,” said David Zolet, a board member at the First Responder Network Authority, CEO at LMI and 2019 Wash100 Award winner. “This puts those on the frontline at the front of the line for access to the information they need to remain better connected, protected and more situationally aware,” Zolet added.

AT&T noted the cell sites utilize Band 14 frequency and are intended to update wireless services for Maryland customers. FirstNet has also fielded Satellite Cell on Light trucks that function as portable cell sites for planned activities and emergency support services.
