Do you want your Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network to be owned and operated by a foreign company?

By Editorial Staff

Ok, we all have purchased and used products made outside of the U.S.. There are many such products that are excellent and we support how the global economy has helped improve our everyday lives, but I think we all can agree that when it comes to mission critical services we need control over them. We do that with competitive bids and clear RFP’s to ensure we get what we need. That is why we created FirstNet and why millions of first responders use and depend on FirstNet.

Well, just this week T-Mobile made a full frontal assault on your network on Capitol Hill. What most people don’t know is that T-Mobile is a German-owned company. Just think about this…a foreign company is attacking your network to improve their corporate profits rather than serve the needs of public safety.

he real irony here is that when the opportunity was there for them to respond to the FirstNet RFP, they chose not to compete at all. They could have offered the same service and functionality, but instead they chose not to even bother to bid. To be clear, they were invited and encouraged to bid but apparently, they didn’t think it was worth their time or that the public safety network was not going to succeed. They did not want to offer the same Plan, Promise nor have Public Safety oversight that FirstNet has. Yet, now that the network is a resounding success and they are losing public safety market share, they want to capitalize on the hard work of others or destroy the network millions of first responders depend on today.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Public safety agencies must do what is best for their first responders but – its okay to “Say NO – to T-MO”

Please take a minute and look at this post by Chief Jeff Johnson and share with other first responders.
